Real Madrid Receive Another La Liga Setback After Vinicius Jr Ballon d'Or Saga & El Clasico Drubbing

The defending La Liga champions Real Madrid have endured a terrible week after facing an embarrassing El Clasico loss to Barcelona 4-0 at home at the Santiago Bernabeu over the weekend. To make matters worse for the club Vinicius Jr controversially lost the Ballon d'Or to Rodri and in protest the club boycotted the gala organised by France Football. 

After a tough week, Real Madrid were hoping to bounce back to the winning ways  in La Liga and get their season back on track. But as it turns out, Los Blancos have received yet another setback as their weekend clash vs Valencia is under jeopardy. 

Real Madrid receive another setback 

In a setback to Real Madrid, their clash against 20th placed Valencia away at Mestalla is under serious threat of being postponed. This is due to a catastrophic storm hitting the eastern region of Valencia and resulting into flash floods which have taken the lives of more than 60 people and left 100 people injured. 

Given the calamitous conditions in Valencia, reports in Spain suggest that the match between Real Madrid and Valencia can be postponed. According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Blancos have informed Valencia that they are ready to help them in any way possible and that they will not create any problems if Valencia want to postpone Saturday’s match.

Given the dire situation in Valencia, football will have to take a back seat this weekend and the likelihood of the match going ahead as scheduled is bleak.

With their crushing defeat against Barcelona, Real Madrid have lost further ground in the La Liga title race. If the match against Valencia is postponed, Real could be down by 9 points albeit a game in hand. The rescheduled match could further arrive during a packed schedule for Real Madrid creating some big problems for Los Blancos.
