Daniel Ricciardo Told To Be Honest And Quit F1 For This Job Instead!

Daniel Ricciardo has had some very disappointing seasons in Formula One ever since he left Red Bull. He has traveled to several teams around the grid but has not been able to bring that impact that he used to with Red Bull. Ricciardo currently races for Visa Cashapp RB along with teammate Yuki Tsunoda. 

So far in the 2024 season, Ricciardo has been absolutely disappointing and has been out qualified by his teammate in 9 out of 14 rounds. Ricciardo so far this season only has four point finishes. This has led to him being criticized by several fans and pundits alike.

Daniel Ricciardo Should Retire 

Dutch analyst Tom Coronel recently went off on Daniel Ricciardo. He told Ricciardo to be honest with himself and how Ricciardo has no business being in F1 anymore.

“A few years ago, when Daniel Ricciardo left Red Bull and went for the money at Renault, I already knew it."

“He chose the dough and not his racing heart."

“It’s a nice story, the Ricciardo 2.0 who has learnt from his mistakes – blah, blah, blah – but he just doesn’t get it anymore."

“He didn’t succeed at McLaren, he didn’t succeed at AlphaTauri and he’s never going to succeed again. Be honest with yourself."

“He is an ideal motorsport co-commentator or analyst. He is funny, has flair and can handle anything well."

“Go and enjoy that, but stop doing Formula 1. And at a training team, he has no business at all anyway."

“Formula 1 is the class for the world’s top-20 drivers and he hasn’t been part of that for a long time.”

These comments from Coronel come amongst a disappointing season from the Aussie and the verbal spat the driver got into with former World Champion Jacques Villeneuve in June during the Canadian Grand Prix. It is also to note that The Australian driver has recently picked up form and scored points right before heading into the summer break.

Villeneuve's Criticism Of Ricciardo

During the Canadian Grand Prix, Jacques Villeneuve took to criticizing Ricciardo for his recent form. Villeneuve pointed out that it was Daniel Ricciardo's image that was keeping him in Formula One and how the Aussie has struggled for the past few years. 

Ricciardo angered with this assessment told the 1997 World Champion to “eat sh*t” and further added how Villeneuve had hit his head hard while playing ice hockey. This led to Villeneuve doublng down on Ricciardo and further criticising him.
