Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his social media platforms to congratulate India's Paralympics athlete Yogesh Kathunia. Yogesh Kathunia bagged a silver medal at the ongoing Paris Paralympics in the men's discuss throw F56 category. At the Paris Paralympics, Kathuniya's best attempt of 42.22m helped him secure a silver medal finish for the country. India now has 1 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals at the Paris Paralympics so far, taking the total count to eight.
Kathuniya lost out on the gold medal to Brazil's Claudiney Batista dos Santos.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his tweet applauded Yogesh Kathuniya's attempts as he made the entire nation proud after securing the silver medal at the Paris Paralympics 2024.
In his tweet PM Modi wrote- "Congrats to @YogeshKathuniya for making India proud by winning the Silver medal in the Men's Discus Throw F56 at the #Paralympics2024! His is an incredible journey of determination, hard work and resilience. Best wishes for his upcoming endeavours.
Yogesh's Attempts That Led To Silver
Kathuniya recorded a throw of 42.22m in his first attempt, and he followed that with 41.50m, 41.55m, 40.33m, 40.89m and 39.68m. This is Yogesh's second silver medal after he did wonders in the Tokyo Games with a throw of 44.38m, which earned him his first paralympic medal.
Yogesh finished with a season's best performance at the ongoing Paralympic Games. Brazil's Claudiney Batista dos Santos made it a hattrick of gold medals after winning the F56 event.
