In the professional wrestling industry, Eric Young is well-respected, especially because of his memorable tenure in TNA/IMPACT Wrestling. Likened frequently to the underdog narrative of Daniel Bryan, Young established himself and became well-liked by supporters. He moved to WWE in 2016 and became even more successful there as the leader of the critically acclaimed SAnitY faction in NXT.

Eric Young left WWE in April 2023

Young was one of the wrestlers who were cut off by the company during 2020's budget cutbacks. Sadly, his time on the starting roster didn't go as expected. But after that year, WWE surprised everyone by surreptitiously re-signing him. Young's second time with the organisation ended without his making any on-screen appearances, despite this second chance.

It was revealed, in an unexpected development, that Young asked to be let out of his WWE contract in April 2023. The grounds for this choice are yet unknown, so fans and analysts are once again interested in learning the specifics of Young's departure from the organisation.

Eric Young didn’t want to work with Vince McMahon during his time in WWE

Eric Young explained why he left WWE in a recent interview with Nick Hausman: he didn't want to work for Vince McMahon. According to Young, the WWE is a depressing place to work since there is no sense of humour or togetherness among those who work there.  He said:

“I think most people that work there will tell you, it’s not a fun place to work, it just isn’t, especially if you love professional wrestling,”

“It’s the goal, it’s the big dog in the hunt, it’s the megacity, it’s, however you want to say it, the end all be all. The truth is, that’s what I thought most of my life I wanted, most of my young life.

But being a person that has accomplished 10 times what he ever thought he would in wrestling and getting to dictate my life and dictate my career at this point, it was a very easy decision. The only part I regret is not being able to work with some of the people there, not be able to work with Hunter again.

There’s bucket list things there that I’m not going to lose sleep over, but it surely would have been cool to check them off the list.”

After leaving WWE, Eric Young returned to IMPACT Wrestling, a promotion in which he had achieved notable success in the past. Remarkably, Young disclosed that he had turned down an offer from AEW during his interview with Nick Hausman. Since he was so open about his belief that he would have been underappreciated in AEW, returning to IMPACT was a simple choice for him.
