Microsoft to launch its most affordable tablet. Surface Go to hit the markets in August
Microsoft will launch the Surface Go on August 2 and will take on dominating tablets in the market such as Apple iPad and Samsung Chromebook Pro
Microsoft might be making their intentions clear about locking horns with tech titan Apple who currently dominates the tablet market with its flagship tablet iPad. In its latest reveal, Microsoft has revealed the launch date for its 10-inch affordable tablet, Surface Go.
The company which would be launching the product on August 2 has put a rather surprising price tag of $399. However, cosmetically, one might find it hard to explain the price tag, considering the finish and the looks of the tablet.
The tablet will have an 1800x1200 resolution with a natural 217 PPI and a wide-angle screen. In its first, the Surface Go will be the first tablet that would be offered with a USB-C port for charging. However, it will not support Thunderbolt 3.
In terms of design, the new Surface Go will derive its sturdy 2-in-1 hinge from the Surface Pro.
A glance at the specifications of the tablet might justify the low price tag. It gets a 64GB storage space along with 4GB of RAM. Powering the tablet would be a Pentium 4415Y processor. However, the company will be offering the tablet in a higher order of its specification too, with expanded memory storage as well as RAM.
In order to provide the tablet with a better battery life, Microsoft told Gizmodo that they have steered clear of the Core i series pushing the battery life, as claimed by the company, to over nine hours.
The cover on the tablet, which would be crucial if one is using the tablet as a laptop, will be sold at an additional cost of $100 and $130 for Alcantara material. Summing up all the prices, it would not be untrue to say that the tablet will carry an actual price tag of $500 to $530. This puts the tablet with its laptop-like rival Samsung Chromebook Pro which sports a bigger display and runs on Chrome OS.
