e-visa facility to ease convenience

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, famous for their unspoiled beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rich marine life, are now more accessible than ever. The new e-visa facility at Port Blair is anticipated to attract a greater influx of international visitors to this idyllic archipelago.

Tourism Secretary Vishwendra noted that the optimal period for yacht charters in the region spans from October to May, when calm seas and favorable weather conditions make for ideal maritime adventures. With Port Blair joining the ranks of India’s major seaports for e-visa entry—alongside Mumbai, Cochin, Mormugao, Chennai, and New Mangalore—the process for global tourists has been greatly streamlined.

Hopes surrounding e-visa's potenial

Local officials have welcomed this development. Prashant Kumar, the former Chief Port Administrator, emphasized the thorough review conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs before this decision. Devesh Chandra Srivastava, Director General of Police, expressed optimism about the e-visa’s potential to boost the Andamans' status on the international tourism map and enhance yacht tourism opportunities.

In a bid to capitalize on this new gateway, a delegation from the Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) recently promoted the islands at the India International Travel Mart in Bengaluru. Their efforts highlight the Andamans as an increasingly attractive destination for yacht charters and adventure tourism.
