India Achieves MIRV Capability — The Weapon That Defeats Missile Defense
India recently tested its Agni-V missile with MIRV technology, meaning one missile can carry 10–12 warheads aimed at different targets. Each warhead separates mid-flight using a maneuvering bus and follows its own guided path, making defense systems struggle to intercept multiple objects at once. The test used a depressed trajectory, reducing warning time and complicating interception. This strengthens India’s nuclear deterrence under its no-first-use policy, ensuring survivability even after an enemy strike. Developed entirely with domestic technology, India now joins the US, Russia, China, France, and the UK in mastering MIRV, with future plans for Agni-VI and submarine-launched missiles.
