Noida Protests: From Bringing Chilli Powder To Burning Cars, Here's Why Workers Raged | Report

A day after workers' demonstrations in Noida descended into violence, the Uttar Pradesh government raised the interim minimum pay for unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled workers by almost 21%. This morning, the workers have persisted in their sit-in protest. The Noida District Magistrate's office reports that the interim salaries for unskilled workers in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad have been raised from Rs 11,313 to Rs 13,690 per month, for semi-skilled workers from Rs 12,445 to Rs 15,059, and for skilled workers from Rs 13,940 to Rs 16,868. The interim tariffs go into effect on April 1.
