DMRC Reopens All Gates at Red Fort Metro After 10/11 Car Blast
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reopened all entry and exit gates at the Red Fort (Lal Quila) Metro Station, restoring full public access after the November 10 car blast near Gate No. 1 that killed 12 people and injured nearly two dozen. The station had been shut on the day of the explosion as a precaution, even as the rest of the metro network continued operating normally. Partial access was restored earlier when two gates were reopened on Saturday.
Investigators confirmed through DNA analysis that the blast was triggered by a white Hyundai i20 driven by Dr Umar Mohammad, a medical professional from Al-Falah University. The explosion followed the recovery of 2,900 kg of explosives in Faridabad and prompted heightened security in surrounding markets. Several individuals linked to what authorities describe as a “white-collar terror module” have been arrested, while multiple agencies continue detailed examinations at the blast site.
