The Aravalli range, which stretches from Delhi in the north to Gujarat in the south, is one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. More than two-thirds of its total area is made up of 15 districts of Rajasthan. The Aravallis, referred to as the "green lungs" of northern India, are crucial to preserving the region's ecology. But because of ongoing mining and encroachment, this historic range is in danger of ecological collapse.
