SpaceX’s Starship Spacecraft Explodes Midflight For The Second Time, Major Setback For Elon Musk

Nearly two months after a fiery explosion scattered debris over Turks and Caicos, SpaceX attempted another Starship launch on Thursday. However, the massive rocket lost contact just minutes into the test flight, tumbling down midair. In the Bahamas, a social media user captured footage of what appeared to be the wreckage streaking across the sky, adding to the dramatic end of the mission. SpaceX's massive Starship spacecraft exploded in space on Thursday, just minutes after launching from Texas, marking the second consecutive failure this year for Elon Musk's Mars mission program. The FAA temporarily halted air traffic in parts of Florida following the mishap. Videos on social media captured fiery debris streaking across the skies near South Florida and the Bahamas after the rocket lost control and broke apart. This latest failure, the eighth test, comes just over a month after a similar explosive end to the seventh attempt. The setbacks raise concerns for Musk’s ambitious goal of sending humans to Mars by the end of the decade.
