Bengaluru Auto Driver’s Startup Fundraising Poster Goes Viral, Sparks Online Debate
Bengaluru auto driver Samuel Christy’s unique startup pitch through a poster in his vehicle goes viral, sparking mixed reactions online.
Bengaluru, often celebrated as the startup capital of India, has once again delivered a quintessential #PeakBengaluru moment that has captured the attention of netizens. The city, known for its entrepreneurial spirit and unconventional stories, is now abuzz with the unique fundraising effort of an auto driver, Samuel Christy.
Samuel, a graduate and aspiring entrepreneur, has turned his auto into a platform for pitching his startup idea. A poster displayed inside his vehicle invites passengers to discuss his business idea and potentially fund it. The message on the poster reads:
"Hi passenger, my name is Samuel Christy. I'm a graduate looking to raise funds for my startup business idea. If you're interested, please talk to me."
Mixed Reactions Online
The viral post, shared on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, "Yet another Peak Bengaluru moment!," has sparked a debate among internet users.
On Reddit, some users lauded Samuel's creativity and determination. One user expressed their support, stating, “I think it's a great effort. Hope he is doing something good and hope he succeeds!”
However, not everyone was convinced. Criticism arose regarding the grammatical errors in his poster. To this, a user defended Samuel, commenting, “If someone is interested in making a startup, I'd worry about the idea, not about the grammar.” Another added, “Everybody who’s talking about the grammatical errors, I’m sure this man will achieve more than what you guys will ever achieve in life.”
Concerns About Potential Scams
While many praised Samuel's initiative, scepticism also surfaced. A user recalled a previous incident in Bengaluru, writing:
*"This could be a scam too, the auto drivers are biggest scamster in Bengaluru. Few years back there was an auto guy who used to find daily near my office in Koramangala. He got somehow JEE Advanced score card of some guy, anyone who took his auto he shows it to them saying it’s his son and he don’t have money for his admission. He even took money from many of my colleagues for his fake fundraising.
Later he caught by one of my colleague who somehow knew that guy whose score card he was using he complaint to police and that guy caught."*
