Hyderabad: A Telangana YouTuber's viral video showcasing a peacock curry recipe has sparked outrage and legal trouble.
While some communities may consume peacock curry, owning or capturing peacocks is illegal, invites strict penalties.
The police have launched a probe against Kodam Pranay Kumar, a resident of Tangallapalli in the Siricilla district, for making a video recipe featuring peacock curry, which gained attention from animal rights activists demanding legal action for unlawfully killing the bird.
Akhil Mahajan, SP of the Rajanna Siricilla district, stated that a case has been registered under the relevant law, and the strictest action will be taken against Kumar and anyone else engaging in such activities. "He (Kumar) will be sent to remand as well," he added.
Kumar's channel, Pranaykumar's Sri TV, features another controversial video of him cooking wild boar curry. According to the Forests and Wildlife Protection Society (FAWPS), another channel, OneVBH Vlogs from Telangana, has repeatedly uploaded videos of hunting protected species, and officials will take action against such content.
The internet has mixed reactions on this. Someone deemed the act “normal” citing “but i see wild boar meet is sold on roads and openly in Villages". However, many people called it "disgusting''.
