'Resemblance is Uncanny': Elon Musk Compares Brazil's Chief Justice to Voldemort in Viral Post
Musk compared Brazil's Chief Justice, Alexandre de Moraes, to the popular Harry Potter villain Lord Voldemort in a viral post.
Grabbing headlines, business tycoon and Tesla CEO Elon Musk compared Brazil's Chief Justice, Alexandre de Moraes, to the popular Harry Potter villain Lord Voldemort in a viral post. This move comes amid Musk's decision to shut down the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) in Brazil over a censorship dispute.
The tweet featured side-by-side images of Judge Moraes and Voldemort, with the caption, "The resemblance is uncanny. Alexandre de Voldemort." It quickly captivated the audience’s attention.
The photo of Judge Moraes shows him wearing a black cloak similar to Voldemort's, who is depicted holding a wand in the other image.
How Did the Internet React?
The tweet garnered over 554,000 likes and sparked a flood of amusing comments and memes.
One X user posted a clever video showing Brazil's Chief Justice transforming into Voldemort. The clip depicts Moraes rising into the air, cloaked in black, before turning into the Harry Potter villain, complete with a wand.
Some users took the opportunity to mock Moraes, with comments like "I feel bad for Voldemort," and "Voldemort was nicer."
Why Did X Discontinue Services in Brazil?
The social media giant announced on X that it had no choice but to close its local operations in Brazil due to an ongoing legal battle with Chief Justice Moraes.
"We are deeply saddened that we have been forced to make this decision," X said in an official statement, placing the blame squarely on Moraes. The company claimed the decision was a direct result of actions by the Brazilian Supreme Court judge.
According to X, Moraes secretly threatened one of its legal representatives in Brazil with arrest if the company did not comply with orders to remove certain content. "As a result, to protect the safety of our staff, we have made the decision to close our operation in Brazil," the statement continued.
The legal conflict between X and Judge Moraes has been intensifying over the past year. Earlier this year, Moraes ordered X to block certain accounts accused of spreading disinformation and hate speech, particularly those linked to supporters of former far-right President Jair Bolsonaro.
