Moscow: A shocking CCTV video which has gone viral on social media exposes a chilling attempt from a woman chess champion to poison a rival player.

Amina Abakarova, a 40-year-old Russian chess champion, is under investigation for allegedly trying to poison her childhood rival, Umayganat Osmanova, with lethal mercury. The incident took place during the Dagestan Chess Championship in Makhachkala, southern Russia.

The viral CCTV footage shows Abakarova entering the tournament venue and suspiciously scanning the room before approaching Osmanova's chessboard. In a calculated move, she is seen applying a substance later identified as mercury to the board.

Just 30 minutes later, Osmanova began experiencing severe nausea and dizziness, leading to an immediate medical emergency. Doctors confirmed that poisoning was the most likely cause of her symptoms.

The shocking poison plot in the story has shocked the chess community and the world at large. Abakarova has been suspended by the Russian Chess Federation and faces a potential prison sentence of at least three years if found guilty.

Osmanova, still recovering from the attempt of murder, described the experience as "terrible, disgusting, and morally depressing." She revealed that two other individuals, including a fellow participant, also fell ill.
