London: Indian cuisine is one of the most cherished in the world, especially its street food.

Jhalmuri, a beloved snack from the streets of Kolkata, combines puffed rice, spices, and fresh ingredients, bringing nostalgic memories of home for many.

Recently, a video of a vendor selling Jhalmuri on the streets of London has gone viral, capturing the essence of Kolkata in a distant land.

The Instagram video shows the vendor mixing puffed rice and chutney in a steel vessel at a vibrant and colorful stall.

He adds fresh coriander, an array of spices, and freshly chopped cucumbers and onions. Using a long, thin knife, he mixes everything together, finishing with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

In a classic touch, the vendor serves the delicious street food in old newspapers—just like vendors do back in India.

For the final move, he drizzles imli chutney over the mixture and garnishes it with bhujia and masala. A vlogger who tried the dish described it as “authentic, spicy Kolkata-style jhalmuri in London.”
