Massive Earthquake of 6.1 Magnitude Strikes Nepal's Kathmandu, Tremors Felt in Bihar Too

A massive earthquake of 6.1 magnitude was felt near Kathmandu in Nepal, tremours were felt in Bihar; there have been no immediate reports of damage.

Kathmandu: Days after earthquake tremours were felt in West Bengal and Assam , a strong earthquake struck Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, early Friday. The earthquake was of 6.1 magnitude but there have been no reports of any damage, injuries, or loss of life.

Earthquake of 6.1 Magnitude Strikes Nepal's Kathmandu

A powerful earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck near Kathmandu, Nepal, early Friday morning. Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties resulting from the quake. The tremor was felt throughout the Kathmandu valley and nearby areas.

As reported by the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck at 2:51 AM along the Kodari Highway in the Sindhupalchowk district, located 65 kilometers east of Kathmandu. The tremours of the Nepal earthquake were also felt in parts of Bihar , Sikkim and Darjeeling.

Two Earthquakes in India

Weeks after a massive earthquake jolted New Delhi with the epicentre being the national capital itself, two consecutive earthquakes were reported in India, the first one in the Bay of Bengal and the second one in Assam. The 5.1 magnitude earthquake in the Bay of Bengal on February 25 at 6:10 am, resulted in tremours in Kolkata and in and around West Bengal. The second earthquake, in the Morigaon district of Assam on February 27, was of magnitude 5.
