Indonesia Rocked By Magnitude 6.7 Earthquake

The earthquake jolted Indonesia's Tual city on Monday. There is no threat of tsunami due to the quake, reports said.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.7 on Richter scale rocked Indonesia's Tanimbar Islands on Monday (July 14).

The earthquake was located 179 kilometers west-southwest of Tual city in eastern Maluku province.

In a statement, The United States Geological Survey (USGS), stated, “A notable earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.7 struck 179 km west-southwest of Tual, Indonesia, on July 14."

The earthquake struck at 05:49 GMT (11:20 am IST). The depth was located around 110 kilometres below the surface, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

But there is no threat of tsunami due to the quake, reports said.

No damage has been caused and no warnings have been issued, as per reports.
