A light show illuminated a near life-size replica of Mexico's ancient Aztec temples in an event which marked the 500th anniversary of the fall of Tenochtitlan.
Hundreds of residents watched the display in Mexico City's vast main plaza, where the temples were once located.
Tenochtitlan, a sophisticated city on an island in a bridge-studded lake was the capital of the Aztec empire.
A Spanish-led force seized the city on August 13, 1521.
