Persona Sulli: K-pop star Sulli's posthumous project to premiere at Busan Film Festival

Late Korean actor-singer Sulli's short film Persona: Sulli will have its inaugural screening at Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) later this year. The film's production house confirmed the news on social media and announced the date. After wrapping Persona, Sulli was working on its sequel, but owing to her sudden death, Persona 2 stands unfinished. Persona was supposed to be a five-part film. 

Sulli was found dead at her house in Seongnam, South Korea in October 2019. She reportedly died by hanging herself from a fan at her apartment

When will Persona: Sulli premiere at BIFF?

The film's production house took to X (formerly Twitter) and announced that Sulli’s posthumous short film Persona would premiere at the 28th BIFF. The production house revealed that Persona: Sulli will release in two parts -- a short feature film titled, 4: Clean Island and a feature-length documentary titled Dear Jinri.

"‘Persona: Sulli’ will be released in the second half of this year. It contains a total of two short films; ‘4: Clean Island’ and ‘Dear Jinri’. ‘Dear Jinri’ is a documentary film in the form of interviews where the 25-year-old Sulli shared her worries and thoughts," read the post by The Seoul Story.

Produced by Mystic Story, 4: Clean Island is about an individual who wants to relocate to the fabled Clean Island. On the other hand, Dear Jinri reportedly revolves around the life of the actor-singer Sulli. It will feature the final interview of the late actress, conducted before her death in October 2019.

BIFF 2023 will be held over ten days from October 4 to October 13 in Busan.
