Trump Removes 145-Year-Old Office Desk After Musk’s Son Seen Picking Nose, Wiping Fingers
Trump has temporarily replaced the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, days after Musk's son was seen picking his nose and wiping it in the desk.
Washington: Elon Musk's son, X AE A-12, grabbed headlines during his appearance in the White House's Oval Office. From fidgeting to picking his nose, Lil X caught the world's attention.
Days after Musk's youngest son was seen putting his finger in his nose and wiping his hand, President Trump announced that the President's Resolute Desk had been replaced "temporarily."
On his social media account, Trump, who is also a germophobe, posted a picture of the Oval Office with the new desk on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Although it is not clear if the change was related to the nose-picking incident, the post read: “A President, after the election, gets a choice of 1 in 7 desks. This desk, the 'C&O,' which is also very well-known and was used by President George H.W. Bush and others has been temporarily installed in the White House while the Resolute Desk is being lightly refinished—a very important job. This is a beautiful, but temporary replacement!”
The Historical Resolute Desk:
The 145-year-old iconic Resolute Desk was gifted to President Rutherford B. Hayes by Queen Victoria in 1880 as a token of “goodwill and friendship.”
The desk, made from oak timbers, has been used by several US presidents in the White House, including John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden , since 1961.
The 1,300-pound (590 kg) desk was created by William Evenden, a skilled joiner at Chatham Dockyard in Kent, probably from a design by Morant, Boyd, & Blanford.
‘Lil X’ in the White House
Elon Musk's son accompanied the DOGE head to a press briefing on a new executive order. Introducing him, Donald Trump said, “This is X, and he's a great guy—a high IQ individual." Videos of the young boy picking his nose and wiping it on the desk surfaced online.
