Top adviser to Trump: 'I don't believe there's systemic racism'

A top adviser to President Donald Trump told reporters he doesn't think there is 'systemic racism' against African-Americans in the U.S., but also predicted the administration would support some action on police reform.

"I think the harm comes when you have some very bad apples on the law enforcement side"

"I believe what happened to Mr. Floyd was abysmal. I believe everyone in this country agrees with that."

Kudlow defended the administration's record on the economy and the impact on black Americans.

"If you go back pre-pandemic to February, black unemployment was five point eight percent and that was near the record low. And the record low was set in August of 2019 under President Trump. That's how well they were doing."

"We have also worked very hard on putting up about a thousand opportunity zones, using various tax and regulatory breaks in some distressed areas. We've given a lot of money to the historic black colleges and universities," Kudlow said.

'I don't believe nowadays we have systemic racism," he said.

"We do have some bad apples in the police department, and that can be changed."
