California's Yosemite National Park will reopen with restrictions on Thursday after being closed for more than two and a half months because of the coronavirus outbreak. The number of people allowed in will be restricted to about half those that normally visit this time of year, the National Park Service said. Some park facilities including campgrounds and visitor centers will remain closed or have limited access to help prevent the spread of the virus. Yosemite is famed worldwide for its gushing waterfalls, granite peaks and giant sequoias.
The park, which was shut down March 20, had about 4.6 million visitors in 2019. The small town of Mariposa is located just outside the park, and many small businesses there rely on tourists for income.
