Two-wheeler sales in September: The two-wheeler industry saw a decline in sales in September 2024. According to the data released by the Federation of Automotive Dealers Association (FADA), the two-wheeler segment saw a decline of 8.51 per cent on a year-on-year basis. The low sales were attributed to the slump in demand from consumer sentiment, low inquiries, and deferred purchases due to heavy rains.

FADA President, Mr. C S Vigneshwar said, “The 2-wheeler sales declined by 10 per cent MoM and 8.5 per cent YoY due to low consumer sentiment, poor inquiries, and reduced walk-ins. Seasonal factors like the Shraddh period, Pitrapaksha, and heavy rains further impacted demand, resulting in delayed purchases and a subdued market environment.”

The Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) saw a shift in positions among the top manufacturers in September 2024. According to the data, the top position was secured by Honda Motorcycles, which was followed by Hero MotoCorp.

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India secured the first position in sales in September 2024. The two-wheeler manufacturer recorded total sales of 3,33,927 units in September. This has resulted in a decline of 15,857 units, registering a decline of 4.74 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Honda recorded a market share of 27.73 per cent in September 2024.

Hero MotoCorp

Next on the list is the Hero MotoCorp. Hero registered total sales of 2,71,390 units in September 2024. The manufacturer fell short of 81,864 units as compared to the same month the previous year. This has resulted in a decline of 30.16 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Hero MotoCorp recorded a market share of 22.71 per cent in September 2024.

TVS Motor Company

TVS Motor Company secured the third position on the list of sales in September 2024. The manufacturer recorded total sales of 2,21,257 units in September 2024. TVS fall short of 8,124 units in September 2024, registering a decline of 3.67 per cent on a year-on-year basis. TVS Motor Company recorded a market share of 18.37 per cent in September 2024.

Bajaj Auto Group

Bajaj Auto Group managed to secure fourth place in the retail sales chart in September 2024. It recorded total sales of 1,41,668 units in September 2024, falling short of 7,965 units. This has resulted in a decline of 5.62 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Bajaj Auto Group recorded a market share of 11.76 per cent.

Suzuki Motorcycles

Next on the list is the Suzuki Motorcycles, recording total sales of 74,287 units in September 2024. It recorded a growth of 450 units, resulting in a growth of 0.60 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Suzuki Motorcycles recorded a market share of 6.71 per cent in September 2024.
