Arun Jaitley passes away: Industry leaders condole ex-Finance Minister

Tributes poured in from India Inc with corporate leaders expressing profound grief at the passing away of former Finance Minister and BJP veteran Arun Jaitley on Saturday, describing him as a true reformist and a great statesman. Taking to Twitter many prominent names from the business fraternity sent in their condolences following Arun Jaitley's demise. Many business leaders lauded the former Finance Minister's contribution to the nation.

India Inc mourns Arun Jaitley's demise:

 

Chairman of Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra said that Arun Jaitley was committed towards development of the nation:

"I salute, and pray for the soul of a man who lived by his convictions and committed his life to his country."

Chairperson and Managing Director of Biocon Kiran Mazumdar Shaw also extended her condolences through Twitter and said that Arun Jaitley massively contributed to the nation. She expressed her sorrow and said that:

"Arun Jaitley, Senior BJP Leader And Former Union Minister, Dies At 66 - So very sad to see such a young and dynamic political leader’s life being cut short - he had so much more to contribute to our nation’s development. RIP"

Chairman of the RPG Enterprises Harsh Goenka too cited Arun Jaitley as a warm, dedicated, outstanding parliamentarian. In addition, Goenka asserted that Jaitley made some landmark reforms in India, including the introduction of GST. Here's what he tweeted:

Arun Jaitley's last rites

Sources have informed that the Former Finance Minister will be cremated on Sunday afternoon at Delhi's Nigambodh Ghat. Jaitley's body will be taken to his Kailash Colony residence after formalities are completed at the AIIMS on Saturday. Sources further report that on Sunday morning, his body will be taken to the BJP headquarters where leaders across the political spectrum are expected to pay their last respects. From thereon, his mortal remains will be taken to the Nigambodh Ghat for the last rites.
