Interviews have always been nerve-wracking for many, while a few brimming with confidence cruise through easily. The main thing which makes people dread interviews when it comes to jobs is the intense scrutiny the aspiring employee is put under by the boss.

And this particular boss is not making things easy.

Trent Innes, boss of an accounting software firm - Xero Australia has revealed in a business podcast, the 'coffee cup test' which is mandatory for every potential employee to pass to join the company. In fact, anyone who fails the test is actually blacklisted from the company.

Talking to the podcast host - entrepreneur Lambros Photios, Innes shared details of the test.

"I will always take you for a walk down to one of our kitchens and somehow you always end up walking away with a drink," he said.

He then added the point where he evaluates the employee saying:

"Then we take the drink back, have our interview. One of the things I’m always looking for at the end of the interview is, does the person doing the interview want to take that empty cup back to the kitchen?"
