Nitin Gadkari sanctions 29 road projects in Ladakh worth Rs 1170.16 crore

Additionally, 181.71 crore has been allocated for 8 bridges under the CRIF Scheme for the fiscal year 2023 24, the Minister said on X.

Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has sanctioned 29 road projects in the Union territory of Ladakh with an allocation of Rs 1170.16 crore, as per an official statement.

The 29 roads projects, encompass state highways, major and other district roads.

Additionally, 181.71 crore has been allocated for 8 bridges under the CRIF Scheme for the fiscal year 2023 24, Gadkari posted on X.

“Ladakh, the largest Union Territory in terms of area and the second least populous in India, will witness improved connectivity to its remote villages through the approved initiatives. This enhancement is expected to stimulate economic activities, particularly in agriculture and tourism, contributing to the overall infrastructural development of Ladakh,” Gadkari said.

Last week, the proactive cabinet minister and veteran Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader had said work on projects worth Rs 65,000 crore is underway in Delhi and its nearby areas for the construction of roads.

He also informed the Parliament in the recently-concluded Winter Session of the Parliament that the National highway projects totalling 43,856 kilometres are under construction stage in the country, at a cost of over Rs 9,60,103 crore.
