Bhuvneshwar Kumar's India absence has been a growing question given his strong display in the last two IPL campaigns. Bhuvneshwar's last ODI match was back in 2022 and he has not played for the Men In Blue since then.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar Opens Up On India Return
Jasprit Bumrah's persistent injury concerns have handed a substantial headache to the team management ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. Bumrah has been ruled out of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka and Auqib Nabi replaced him in the squad. Bumrah has faced fitness issues persistently, and calls for additional reinforcements have already been raised.
On being asked about a possible return to the Indian team, Bhuvneshwar insisted he is absolutely ready to don the blue jersey once again. Kumar was answering queries as he joined the Lucknow Falcons ahead of the UPT20 League.
“Why would I say no if I get a call? Absolutely ready.

“Honestly, I cannot say exactly how ready I am. My job is to play cricket and that is why I have come here to play in the UP T20 league. I didn’t come here with the intention of moving to another place or reaching another level,” he said. “We play IPL knowing we have to perform and win matches for the team, but I didn’t come here to the UP T20 league hoping to get picked elsewhere or because someone said something. How prepared I am is not for me to decide; the rest is the selectors’ call.”

Bhuvneshwar played a pivotal role as RCB defended their IPL title this year and finished as the 2nd highest wicket-taker with 28 scalps in IPL 2026.
