Jos Buttler Shatters All Time T20 Record, Predicts Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Will Overtake Him

Jos Buttler reached a new epitome of cricket after he surpassed Kieron Pollard to become the leading run-getter in T20 history. Buttler achieved this feat while he featured for Manchester Super Giants in The Hundred against the Welsh Fire on Wednesday.

Jos Buttler Broke Kieron Pollard's All-time T20 Record

Buttler's quickfire half-century in just 20 balls helped the Super Giants to end their losing streak. The former England captain has now amassed 14,833 runs in 522 matches, including 9 centuries and 105 fifties as things stand. Pollard had collected 14,562 runs in 463 matches with 22 centuries and 88 fifties.

Butler has been one of the most consistent run scorers in IPL, and the 35-year-old smashed 526 runs in the last season, proving once again why he is regarded among the best in the shortest format.

Jos Buttler Named Vaibhav Sooryavanshi As His Successor

After the match, Buttler immediately picked up his successor and named Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as the one cricketer who could break his record. Sooryavanshi has been a sensation since he burst onto the scene in IPL 2025. He has maintained his growth since and has gone on to make his senior debut against England in the shortest format.

Buttler told Sky Sports, “It's really cool, actually, to think you've got the most T20 runs out of anyone. Someone will surpass it one day - and his name's probably [Vaibhav] Sooryavanshi - but it's a proud moment."

“We played against MI London last game and it would have been nice to get past Polly while he was there sat in the dugout, but there's some great names on there, some special players, so I'm really proud of that.”

Riding on Buttler and Tim Seifert's sensational innings, Super Giants defeated Fire by nine wickets.
