Dhamtari: A class 9th student in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh died by suicide in his school toilet on Monday. His body was found hanging inside the toilet of Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Rudri. Shockingly, he used his mother's saree to hang himself. The incident unfolded as the 15-year-old came to the school, parked his bicycle but did not attend the classes.
Initially, no one took note of his absence but when a teacher went to the restroom, he found the door locked from inside. He knocked on the door but no one responded which raised suspicion. He called other staff and the principal after which the door was broken, only to find the dead body of the student. The police and his father were informed and he was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The body was sent for post-mortem. Police are investigating the incident to determine the reason behind his decision to commit suicide, but, as of now, the reason remains unclear.
According to the school principal, Ram Kumar Sahu, the student was admitted to the school recently this year. He used to be very quiet in the school and hardly interacted with anyone. He even used to have his lunch alone as he did not make any friends.
