Jovita Bhasin and Pakshal Nagda: The Inspirational Stories Behind JEE Advanced Top Ranks

The JEE Advanced 2024 results have spotlighted remarkable stories of dedication and success. Among the top achievers is Jovita Munish Bhasin from FIITJEE Mumbai, who has made her city proud by securing the 1st rank in Mumbai with an impressive score of 285 out of 360, and an All India Rank (AIR) of 177.

Jovita, a student at FIITJEE for the past three years, has her eyes set on pursuing Computer Science at IIT Bombay. She attributes her success to the unwavering support of her parents—a Mechanical Engineer and a Homemaker—and her teachers at FIITJEE. "My approach to exam preparation revolved around balance and flexibility," Jovita shared. "In today's digital era, social media and other entertainment mediums can be significant distractions. Hence, I devised a flexible study schedule to manage my time effectively without feeling overwhelmed."

She emphasized the importance of understanding topics deeply rather than rote learning and maintained a positive mindset through regular meditation. "I adhered strictly to the Read, Review, and Repeat method," she explained. "Taking immediate action on doubts and incorporating regular breaks into my study sessions were crucial. Over the past two months, I dedicated 10 to 12 hours daily to self-study, ensuring a meticulous division of time among various subjects."

Another top performer from FIITJEE Mumbai is Pakshal Nagda, who secured an AIR of 132, making him the Thane City Topper among boys. Pakshal, who plans to pursue Computer Science at IIT Bombay, has interests in Music, Astronomy, Drawing, Math, and Sanskrit. He overcame challenges by regularly discussing doubts with his mentors at FIITJEE. "Initially, I didn't adhere to a structured timetable, studying whenever I felt inclined," Pakshal shared. "However, in the last two months, I established a proper schedule, allocating adequate time to each subject and focusing particularly on the factual aspects of chemistry."

Pakshal also highlighted the importance of respecting teachers, saying, "One valuable lesson I’ve learned is that a respectful attitude towards teachers can yield remarkable outcomes. The interaction with our Director at FIITJEE, Mr. Mohit Sardana, provided insights into future improvements."
