Supreme Court Stays Hearing Of All NEET-UG Petitions in High Courts, Bihar EOU Summoned For Probe

This decision aims to centralize the legal proceedings and ensure a consistent approach to the multiple allegations surrounding the NEET-UG 2024 examination.
Moreover, fresh applications have been filed before the Supreme Court seeking a stay on NEET counselling, citing stunning allegations against a widespread paper leak mafia. The application alleges that the paper leak mafia operates across several states, including Bihar, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. The arrest of individuals in Bihar allegedly reveals strong connections and deep-rooted corruption within the system.

According to the application, thousands of applicants were enticed into purchasing leaked NEET question papers for amounts ranging from Rs 30 to 50 lakhs. These claims highlight the extensive reach and influence of the paper leak mafia over the examination process.
Additionally, the Supreme Court has issued a notice on a petition filed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) seeking to transfer all NEET-UG 2024 related pleas from the High Courts to the apex court. The Supreme Court has also stayed the proceedings before the High Courts in these cases. However, the Supreme Court has reiterated that it will not halt the NEET counselling process.
In a related development, the Union Home Ministry and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) have summoned the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Bihar Economic Offences Unit (EOU) to Delhi to explain their investigation into the NEET paper leak.
