'He topped the examination': Abhishek Manu Singhvi lauds Rahul Gandhi on his first anniversary as Congress president

On a day when Congress learnt its fate in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, where they are expected to come to power with absolute majority as per the vote count trends at 4:30 pm, party's senior leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi took a moment to heap praise on Rahul Gandhi on his first anniversary as the party president.

This day, last year, Rahul Gandhi took over as Congress President from Sonia Gandhi. His first anniversary coincided with his party performing admirably in three of five state elections held in the past month. And according to Singhvi, Rahul Gandhi's performance over the last year has seen him become the 'topper of the examination'.

"@RahulGandhi became the Party President exactly one year ago. He has definitely topped the Annual Examinations by outperforming former victors of the class. Jai Ho...!! #Results2018 #AssemblyElections2018," his Twitter post read.

In the five state elections (Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and Telanagana) which were held in the past month, Congress is expected to form the government single-handedly in three of these, as per the trends late in the evening on December 11.

While the party struggled in Telangana, in a coalition with TDP, and Mizoram, getting trumped by MNF, they were close to coming to power in the other three. 

In Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the party faced stiff competition from BJP, but were ahead with 117 and 105 seats respectively. Congress though, were miles ahead than their competitors in Chhattisgarh, leading in 64 seats till 4:30 pm.
