Both Congress and BJP are taking the route of resort politics in Chhattisgarh ahead of the result of the assembly polls.

The Congress is confident of a majority win but still has decided to get all its 90 MLAs together in a hotel in order to prevent horse trading, say sources.

The MLAs will be put up in a hotel until the Congress is confirmed of a majority victory or until the lawmakers are brought in for a confidence vote.

Sources have said that the Congress is sure of winning a majority but will not take any chance.

Local sources have also said Congress is confident of winning 52-57 seats. They also said that BJP will likely to win 31-35 seats, and the BSP-Janata Congress coalition may win 3-5 seats.

The sources said that the BJP too has decided to lock up its MLAs in hotels to avoid being influenced to switch parties,.

The exit polls did not give either BJP or Congress a clear victory and it looked like Mayawati-Ajit Jogi coalition would be the kingmaker in the state.

CM Raman Singh was assured of a majority victory. "Situation of hung assembly will not come. BJP will form govt with majority. I am confident that BJP will form govt for the 4th time without anyone's support."

The exit poll by CVoter projected the Congress being on the verge of dethroning the BJP and long-time Chief Minister Raman Singh in the 90-member assembly, while Jan Ki Baat gave the edge to the BJP. There are also sufficient numbers in the piece for the BSP-Ajit Jogi alliance to cast the deciding vote as to who will form a government in the state.

Accordingly, the poll of polls suggests a split verdict, with both BJP and Congress coming agonisingly close to a majority.

Earlier today, the two parties seemed to be in a rush to ensure a win for the polls for Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
