A day after Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir was blocked by PDP chief and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehboota Mufti on Twitter over a spat between them on Article 370, the BJP leader had mounted a counter-attack stating that "she can block me, but till when will she keep blocking 130 crore people?"
As the Indian citizens are exercising their right to vote, Gautam Gambhir was addressing the media on the first day of Lok Sabha polling. When asked about the incident and his reaction to the current political breeze across the nation, the cricketer said: "She(Mehbooba Mufti) can block me, but till when will she keep blocking 130 cr people of the nation? There is a wave in this country and if she doesn’t flow with it, she'll drown. In 2014 there was a wave, in 2019 there is a tsunami and there is development",
Earlier, The PDP chief in a tweet had criticised the BJP over the PIL filed in the Delhi High Court which seeks a ban on J&K politicians Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and herself from contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as their "statements are against the Indian constitution".
People’s Democratic Party chief tweeted that if Article 370 of the Constitution is scrapped, it would end the association of J&K with India.
Gambhir, who has recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, tweeted in reply, “This is India, not a stain like you that can be wiped out.”
Mufti retorted, terming Gambhir's cricketing career ‘abysmal’. Then she went on to block the cricketer-turned-politician on Twitter.
