NCP chief Sharad Pawar hits out at PM Modi over 'family feud' remarks, says 'shouldn't talk about other's houses'

NCP Chief and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Sharad Pawar, on Monday, instructed his party workers to refrain making any personal comments, adding that Prime Minister Modi is already taking the responsibility to do so.

"Don't make personal comments at all. When the PM himself has taken the responsibility to make personal comments, why do you need to do it?" said Sharad Pawar while addressing the NCP party workers in Pune. 

Rubbishing the Prime Minister's recent remarks about family disputes in the Pawar clan while addressing a rally in Wardha, the NCP chief pointed out that 'nobody knows who's there is his (Modi) family.

"He had passed a remark in Wardha recently, that there are disputes in my(Pawar's) family. Where's the dispute? We work in different areas but live together amicably. While my house is full, no one knows who's in his family. He shouldn't talk about other's houses," Pawar added.

In the Wardha rally on April 3, PM Modi attacked the NCP chief for withdrawing his candidacy, saying that situation was not 'favourable' for him and that Pawar was 'weakened by family feuds led by his nephew'. PM Modi went on to assert that Pawar is losing his grip on the NCP. 

"Sharad Pawar ji is also aware which way the wind is blowing. This time, the people of the country have forced big guns to run, leaving the (election) ground. Today Pawar sahab has been bowled by people. His false promises have been exposed and he has been hit-wicket by his nephew" said Modi.

Responding to the attack, Pawar cited that his mother’s upbringing and culture did not allow him to respond to such jibes, saying:

"Modi is launching personal attacks wherever he goes. But I will not do so as I am influenced by my mother. Personal criticism does not fit in our culture," said Pawar on Tuesday, adding that the Prime Minister need not be bothered about family feuds in the NCP. 

Maharashtra will vote for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in 4 Phases. The polling dates for Maharashtra will be on April 11, 18, 23 and 29. The votes will be counted for all the constituencies on May 23, 2019. The results of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 will be announced on the same day.
