Rajasthan Assembly Elections: Jan Ki Baat exit poll projects a close-call between Congress and BJP

Republic TV on Friday announced the result of the Jan Ki Baat exit polls for the state of Rajasthan (till 5pm on Friday) that went on polls on December 7. 

As per the Jan ki Baat exit polls, the election war between BJP’s Vasundhara Raje and Congress’ Sachin Pilot have a very close call, as BJP is predicted to grab 83-103 seats, while Congress is anticipated to acquire 81-101 seats out of the total 199 seats in the state.

While Vasundhara Raje is hoping to hold her Chief Minister position and hoping to win the position for the third time, Congress is confident to succeed her. 

Both Congress and BJP have vividly campaigned in the state, with senior leaders from both sides coming in the state. For the Congress, Rahul Gandhi addressed numerous rallies along with Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot, while for the BJP, PM Narendra Modi, party president Amit Shah and others also addressing numerous rallies.

BJP and Congress in Jan ki Baat poll hold an absolute equal vote-share of 36%-37%, while Others hold 26% and 1% for NOTA.  

The 2018 Rajasthan assembly elections saw the BJP coming into direct competition with the Congress, with Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Aam Aadmi Party also contesting. On one hand, while the BJP is attempting to retain power in the state, the Congress is confident that it'll be able to succeed Vasundhara Raje as Chief Minister.

Sachin Pilot who is one of the leaders in the fray to be Chief Minister if the Congress wins, has alleged that the BJP is trying to distract from core issues by bringing in topics like the Ayodhya Ram Mandir and such, while the BJP has called the Congress a confused party because of its unwillingness to name a CM candidate amid alleged infighting between Gehlot and Pilot.

BJP acquired the power in Rajasthan in 2013 Assembly polls with a massive share of 163 seats out of 200, while Congress managed to get 23.

The BJP rose to power in Rajasthan in 2013 Assembly polls by winning a massive 163 seats out of 200, while the Congress could manage to only 23 seats. 
With the assembly elections, the final countdown to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections has begun. The results of the assembly polls in all five states, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Mizoram and Chhattisgarh will profoundly determine the national mood.
