In a new controversy days ahead of the Lok Sabha polls 2019, an affidavit has revealed that Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav owes more than Rs. 2.13 crore to his son and party president Akhilesh Yadav. The affidavit further reveals that the value of the assets has considerably declined by Rs. 3 crore in the last five years.

The affidavit was filed by Mulayam Singh Yadav, who has been fielded by Samajwadi Party from its stronghold Mainpuri in the ensuing General elections.

His affidavit mentions that he owes Rs 2.13 crore to his son Akhilesh Yadav. Mulayam Singh Yadav and his wife Sadhna Yadav have an annual income of Rs 32.02 lakh and Rs 25.61 lakh respectively.

Sadhna Yadav has shown assets worth Rs 5.06 crore. Further, the election affidavit states that the SP leader does not own a car. However, his wife owns a luxury car.

As per the affidavit, the SP patriarch has declared a total property, both movable and immovable, worth Rs 16.52 crore. This is Rs 3.20 crore less than the assets declared by him in an affidavit which was filed in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

According to the affidavit filed, a case was registered against Mulayam Singh Yadav at the Hazratganj police station in Lucknow on September 24, 2015, for allegedly threatening IPS officer Amitabh Thakur over the phone. The case is pending in the court of the chief judicial magistrate.

Earlier on March 23, Akhilesh Yadav-led SP released its first list of 'star campaigners' which excluded the party founder, Mulayam Singh Yadav. After facing backlash, Akhilesh Yadav included his father in the next list of 'star campaigners.

The Yadav family-feud has been making a lot of rounds amid the election season, with the founder expressing discontent over Akhilesh Yadav forming an alliance with BSP chief Mayawati in Uttar Pradesh for 2019 polls.

Uttar Pradesh consisting of 80 Lok Sabha seats is all set to go for polls in all seven phases starting from April 11. The result of the polls will be announced on May 23.
