Congress Announces 21 Candidates For Jharkhand Assembly Polls | Full Details
Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: Congress announced the list of 21 candidates for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections on Monday. The grand old party has fielded Irfan Ansari from Jamtara, Bannu Gupta from Jamshedpur West Ajoy Kumar from Jamshedpur East, Pradeep Yadav from Poreyahat, and Jai Prakash Patel from Mandu.
The elections in Jharkhand will be held in two phases, November 13 and November 20, with counting set for November 23. Approximately 2.60 crore voters are expected to participate, including 11.84 lakh first-time voters, 1.13 lakh persons with disabilities, third-gender individuals, and senior citizens over 85. This is an increase from 2.23 crore voters in the 2019 assembly elections.
The BJP lost power to the JMM-led alliance in 2019. In that election, the JMM alliance won 47 seats, with the JMM securing 30, Congress 16, and RJD one. The BJP won 25 seats, while JVM-P captured three, AJSU Party two, CPI-ML, and NCP one each, alongside two Independent candidates.
