Former Haryana minister and BJP leader Bachan Singh Arya resigned from the party on Saturday. He will contest the Haryana elections as an independent candidate.
Chandigarh: Former Haryana minister and BJP leader Bachan Singh Arya resigned from the party on Saturday. Arya said that he will contest the Haryana elections as an independent candidate.
This development follows the party's decision to deny a ticket to Arya and instead nominate Ramkumar Gautam from Safidon in its initial list of candidates for the Haryana elections.

Arya has resigned from his primary membership and his position on the BJP 's state executive, according to his resignation letter submitted to the party. Bachan Singh Arya has chosen to run as an independent candidate.
"I have said this earlier too. Today, public told me to leave it (the party), you saw that it was a crowd of 10,000 people. I had joined BJP when they (public) had told me. People were not satisfied with their work, Jind was not suited to their workstyle. People of the constituency have ignored BJP . I am contesting on the ticket of the public, they offered me and I accepted it because it is they who have to vote. Those who have come from outside have never won," Arya was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
On Wednesday, the BJP released its first list of 67 candidates for the 90-member assembly. The list includes the name of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini who will be running from the Ladwa constituency.
After the ticket distribution, former Haryana Minister Karan Dev Kamboj, who served as the state BJP OBC Morcha chief, announced his resignation from all BJP positions. He criticized the party, claiming there has been injustice towards workers in the ticket allocation process.
The assembly elections in Haryana are scheduled for October 5, with the results to be announced on October 8. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir will hold its elections on September 18, September 25, and October 1, with vote counting also set for October 8.
