Haryana Assembly Elections Live: Voting Underway for 90 Seats, 61% Turnout Recorded Till 5 pm

"BJP will form the government with full majority. We are confident," Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini said. 

"I have been saying this since we started campaigning that there is a wave in favour of Congress. Congress will form a government with a thumping majority...The main factor was our achievements from 2005-2014 and the failure of the BJP government from 2014-2024- corruption and non-performance. We will work on unemployment, education and security...It (CM post) is everyone's right...This is democracy. Whatever decision the High Command takes we will accept this...She (Kumari Selja) is our senior leader..." Hooda said. 

"Voting is going on in Haryana. As was experienced during the election campaign, the huge turnout of voters is once again evident. People are eager for Haryana's progress and the formation of a double-engine government in Haryana. The way people have voted for BJP since polling started this morning, trust is turning into confidence. BJP government will be formed in Haryana once again," said Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. 

"...I consider those incidents as big, which affect the voting procedure. There have been news of a few small incidents. The administration is keeping an eye on such things. But, no big incident has occurred here. And there has been no effect on the voting procedures...The people are aware now in Haryana. I am thankful to the Election Commission also for such a systematic conduct of elections which is famous in the whole world," said Haryana Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad.

61% voter turnout was recorded in Haryana until 5 pm. 

The high stakes Haryana Assembly elections concluded on October 5 and the results will be declared on October 8.  As of 4 PM in the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, 1.1 crore voters have participated, with an overall turnout of 54.3%. most districts surpassed 50%, while Yamunanagar, Kaithal, and Mewat recorded over 60%.

"As far as Congress is concerned, I am hopeful. The people are liking our campaigns, manifesto and guarantees...We are clear about our 7 guarantees and what we are providing to the people. We abide by our words...In the last 10 years, the public has seen the performance of BJP. Now, everyone is inclined towards transformation...We are getting positive feedback, so I am hopeful that we will form the government (in Haryana)," Congress leader Sachin Pilot said. 

"Today, Haryana is celebrating the festival of democracy. People are voting for a change, they are waiting for a better health and education system in the state... AAP will come as a third option in the state," Sushil Gupta said. 

49.13% voter turnout recorded till 3 PM in Haryana Assembly elections.

Haryana CM and BJP candidate from Ladwa assembly constituency Nayab Singh Saini says, "We are getting a lot of love, lotus is blooming in the entire state, lotus is blooming in Ladwa too. We have ended the Congress' politics of nepotism and discrimination. Hooda sahab used to look only at a particular class, only at a particular region. But in our government, we have worked for Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, taking everyone along... the amount of work we have done in the last 10 years, even 7 generations of Congress will not be able to do that much work."

As of 1 pm, Mewat recorded the highest voter turnout of 42.64%, followed by Yamunanagar at 42.08% and Jind at 41.93%. Panchkula recorded the lowest voter turnout at 25.89%

Haryana Election Commission Nodal Officer Manish Kumar Lohan says, "... Polling on all booths started on time. So far, 25% voter turnout has been reported, which is an encouraging number... Last time the voter turnout was more than 68% and this time we hope to cross the 75% mark... Weather plays a crucial role in taking the poll percentage up or down... There has been no untoward incident so far..."

Haryana Election 2024: Independent candidate from Meham Assembly constituency Balraj Kundu alleges that he and his PA were beaten up by former Congress MLA Anand Singh Dangi and his supporters outside a polling booth. Dangi's son Balram Dangi is contesting from Meham seat as Congress candidate.
