'How do they not feel ashamed to seek votes despite not fulfilling promises?' asks Cong-NCP to BJP-Shiv Sena in Maharashtra

Targeting the ruling BJP- Shiv Sena government for unfulfilled promises in Maharashtra, the NCP-Congress alliance has announced their social media campaign titled- 'Laaj kashi vaatat nahi?'(How are you not ashamed?) ahead of the Lok Sabha polls starting on April 11.

The two parties had announced on Tuesday that their main aim is to shame the ruling Maharashtra government on its 'failure' to fulfill poll promises over the period of their governance. In a joint briefing in Mumbai, Congress-NCP leaders have announced that this campaign will be launched in print, electronic and social media and will seek accountability from the BJP-Shiv Sena on a range of issues including agrarian distress, women's safety, education, and jobs.

Explaining the details of the campaign, NCP national spokesperson Nawab Malik shared how the basis of the campaign is to accentuate the 'poor show of BJP-Shiv Sena', moreover, questioned how this alliance feels "no shame."

He said, "The campaign aims to highlight the poor show of the BJP and Shiv Sena. How come they not feel ashamed to seek votes despite not fulfilling old poll promises? And therefore, the tag line which speaks the mind of the people."

Congress leader Hussain Dalwai who was also present in the press conference claimed that the poor, farmers, youth, small traders, Dalits, minorities, tribals and other sections of the society have found themselves jeopardized under the Maharashtra government's watch.

He added, "The sentiment among the people is they (government) should answer on these issues."

Congress -NCP have also prepared short clips on issues such as farmers' suicide, education, women's safety, alleged a failure of the Centre's Ujjwala LPG scheme and others with an aim to propagate their 'shaming' campaign. 

 The tweet posted by NCP on Saturday read:

"The government which is responsible for 50000 farmer suicides, don't you feel any shame?"

Similarly, on Friday, NCP had tweeted:

  "Under the Awaas Yojna, the previous government had given the people the shelter they deserve. But BJP government has only thrown fake promises at the nation" 

MNS chief Raj Thackeray, who had announced that his party will not contest the Lok Sabha election, but the campaign against the BJP-Shiv Sena combine, is expected to address five to six rallies this month, sources said on Thursday.

Maharashtra will vote for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in 4 Phases. The polling dates for Maharashtra will be on April 11, 18, 23 and 29. The votes will be counted for all the constituencies on May 23, 2019. The results of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 will be announced on the same day.
