In a significant development , Election Commission bans Congress leader Randeep Surjewala from campaigning for 48 hours over his remarks on Hema Malini. 

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, all of whom are behind bars, have been named by the party as star campaigners for the Lok Sabha polls in Gujarat.

Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann are also among the list of 40 star campaigners, whose names have been submitted by the party to the Election Commission.

Other prominent names on the list are AAP Rajya Sabha MPs Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak.

Names of Rajya Sabha MPs Harbhajan Singh and Swati Maliwal are missing from the list.

Chief Minister Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with a Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case. He is currently in judicial custody and lodged in Tihar jail.

Of the 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat, the AAP is contesting two -- Bharuch and Bhavnagar -- as part of the INDIA bloc, while its ally Congress is contesting the remaining 24.

The AAP has fielded Chaitar Vasava from Bharuch and Umesh Makwana from Bhavnagar.

The Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat will be held in a single phase on May 7 and the last date for filing nomination papers is April 19

The Aam Aadmi Party has named Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in the list of 40 star campaigners for the Lok Sabha election campaign in Gujarat.
The party has named its major leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Atishi, Sanjay Singh, Gopal Rai and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Singh, to woo the voters in the state.
 

Congress releases another list of 3 candidates in Jharkhand for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Deepika Pandey Singh to contest from Godda; Krishna Nand Tripathi from Chatra; Anupama Singh from Dhanbad. 

Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma says, "I wish to make an appeal to all of you, this election is not of caste...It's the nation's elections...Congress rejected the invitation of lord Ram...They (Congress) are not even getting their candidates. If I talk about Rajasthan, at four places, they accorded tickets and it was returned..."

Himachal Pradesh Minister & Congress candidate from Mandi, Vikramaditya Singh, says, “There is nothing about being far ahead. She has been going (for campaigning) given the elections. But I have been among the people always. To go to the people during the elections is not serving them...I have been with the people through their thick and thin...Two days ago the party announced my name as the candidate and I thank them for that. I accept every challenge...Despite the financial shortcomings, we have fulfilled everything. We will fight the elections with strength and win the Mandi Lok Sabha seat.”

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman says, "Dont come back, this was the slogan by the people of the state that's why their government lost its power... I request all the voters of the state that don't vote for the corrupt Congress party... PM Modi has to be made the PM again for the development of the state..."

The question is how many seats above the mark of 400 will we get."

BJP on Tuesday declared four candidates for the bypolls which will be held on four assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh along with the Lok Sabha elections.

Bharatiya Janata Party declared Arvind Singh as its candidate for the Dadraul assembly constituency, Shailendra Kumar Shailu from the Gainsari assembly constituency and Shravan Gaur from the Duddhi (Reserved) assembly constituency. The party fielded O.P. Srivastava from the Lucknow East assembly constituency. Srivastava is an office bearer of Avadh Kshetra of the party.

Bypoll to four assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh will be held in four phases simultaneously with the Lok Sabha elections.

“Seemanchal is a sensitive area. Those doing vote bank politics have compromised with security by allowing illegal intrusion in the Seemanchal-Purnea area...I want to assure you that the govt has an eye on every element that tries to mess around with the country's security...Those opposing CAA for political benefits need to know that Modi will not be scared nor will he bow down,” said PM Modi during his rally in Purnea on Tuesday. 

PM Modi is addressing his second rally today in Bihar's Purnea district. “”Today, for the NDA govt, the deprived and exploited sections are the priority. 'Jisko kisi ne nahi poochha, hum usko pooj rahe hain'. There was a time when the central govt would term Bihar as backward. But we have made the development of Seemanchal and Purnea our mission," said PM during his Purnea rally. 

Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate from Mainpuri Lok Sabha Seat, Dimple Yadav filed her nomination papers toady. Her husband and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was also present. 

“Nobody has the guts to raise slogans for Pakistan. Slogans of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' can only be heard. PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti had said that if Article 370 is removed then nobody will be left to give a shoulder to the tricolour. She needs to understand that this tricolour is immortal and will always stay. Article 370 was scrapped and the tricolour still flies with pride and glory,” said Union Home Minister Amit Shah during rally in Jammu. 

After PM attacked the RJD during Gaya rally, RJD leader and former Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav said, "We made IT policy, tourism policy, sports policy. For the first time in Bihar, MoU of investment of Rs 50,000 crore was signed. If they (BJP) call it 'Jungle Raj' What can I say on this? Instead of abusing us, what did the Prime Minister do for Bihar in the last 10 years? The Prime Minister has given 4 things only- unemployment, inflation, poverty and Jumlebaazi."

PM Modi during his rally in Bihar's Gaya on Tuesday, slammed the Lalu Yadav-led RJD. “RJD has ruled Bihar for several years but they don't have the guts to discuss the work done by their government. RJD is the biggest face of jungle raj in Bihar. RJD has given only two things to Bihar - jungle raj aur bhrashtachar.” said PM. 

BJP national president JP Nadda on Tuesday held a roadshow in Tamil Nadu's  Perambalur. Former Tamil Nadu CM O Panneerselvam, who is contesting the election from Ramanathapuram Lok Sabha constituency, was also present.

The BJP on Tuesday announced 7 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. 

Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday announced candidates from 4 more Lok Sabha seats in Punjab.

4. ⁠Ashok Prashar from Ludhiana

“Yesterday, PM Modi gave a detailed interview. But the most shocking thing in the interview is that the Prime Minister is openly defending the biggest scam since independence. The Supreme Court called electoral bonds unconstitutional and illegal. He also insulted the Supreme Court, he should apologize to the Supreme Court and the people of the country,” said AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Tuesday. 

Congress lost opportunity to make India a ‘Samridh Bharat’, said PM Modi during his Gaya rally on Tuesday. Congress did not deliver on its promises, he added. 

“Two days ago, BJP released its 'Sankalp Patra'. This is the first time, some party's 'Sankalp Patra' is being called a ‘guarantee card’,” said PM Modi during Gaya rally on Tuesday.

The BJP is likely to not field candidates from seats in Kashmir this Lok Sabha elections and may extend support to Altaf Bukhari and Sajjad Lone in Kashmir. 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah's will address a rally in Uttarakhand's Kotdwar on Tuesday at 2:30pm in support of BJP candidate Anil Baluni. 

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya Monday accused Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav of hurling abuses at his late father and dubbed the opposition party as a factory that produces "rioters, goons, criminals and mafia".

PM Modi will address election rallies in Bihar's- Gaya, Purnea and West Bengal's Balurghat and Raiganj districts. While Gaya goes into polls in the first phase, Purnea, Balurghat and Raiganj goes into polls in the second phase of general elections.
