Rajasthan Election Result 2023 LIVE: CM Gehlot arrives at Raj Bhavan to tender resignation to Guv

Incumbent CM Gehlot submits his resignation from the chief minister's post to Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra. 

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday said the assembly poll results were "unexpected for everyone" and added the party humbly accepted the people's mandate.

The BJP was appeared set to win the assembly polls in Rajasthan, defeating the Congress. According to latest available trends, the BJP won 52 seats and was ahead in 63, while the Congress won 26 and was leading in 43.

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has arrived at Raj Bhawan to tender his resignation to the Governor Kalraj Mishra. 

 

“I have always said that I will accept the mandate of the people and I extend my best wishes to the future government,” said incumbent CM Ashok Gehlot after election trends suggesting BJP's victory in the state. 

“We have received the mandate in Rajasthan. It was confirmed that the bad governance of Congress was going to end. The policies of PM Modi have been approved in all three states. This is a referendum on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” said BJP leader Rajendra Rathore. 

“PM Modi's government will be formed once again with a huge majority in the Lok Sabha elections... The new government would be formed in Rajasthan in a few days,” he added. 

“I had already said that BJP will form the govt with a big majority. Now that the historic results of the three states have come...The public have rendered their faith in PM Modi,” said Union Minister and BJP leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. 

 

Former deputy CM and Congress leader Sachin Pilot emerged victorious from Tonk. He defeated BJP's Ajit Singh Mehta by 29,475 votes. 

BJP MP Rajyavardhan Rathore has secured victory from the Jhotwara assembly constituency as he defeated Congress' Abhishek Choudhary by over 50,000 votes. BJP rebel Ashu Singh Surpura, who contested as an independent candidate, stood in the third position with 55,159 votes.

BJP leader Diya Kumai credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for party's victory in Rajasthan while speaking exclusively with Republic as she reached party office after securing a massive victory from Vidyadhar Nagar seat.

Former CM Vasundhara Raje Scindia credited Prime Minister Modi for BJP's expected victory in Rajasthan. 

“This victory is of the mantra of 'Sabka saath, sabka vishwas and sabka prayaas' given by PM Modi. It is the victory of the guarantee given by the PM. It is also the victory of the strategy given by Amit Shah and the able leadership provided by Nadda ji. Most importantly, it's a victory for our party workers,” said Raje. 

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has registered victory from Jhalrapatan constituency in the Rajasthan assembly elections 2023 by a margin of 53193 votes. 

BJP MP and candidate from Vidhyadhar Nagar, Diya Kumari, has registered victory by a margin of 71368 votes. 

Union Minister and BJP leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has headed to New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the BJP is all set to secure majority in Rajasthan: Sources 

Samaram and Govind Prasad secured victory from Pindwara abu and Manohar Thana. 

Samaram won the Pindwara Abu seat by a margin of 13,094 votes. He secured a total of 70,647 votes. According to the Election Commission's website, Prasad won the Manohar Thana seat by a margin of 24,865 votes. The BJP leader secured a total of 85,304 votes

Bharat Adivasi Party's candidate Rajkumar Roat secured victory from Chorasi defeating BJP's Sushil Katara by 69,166 votes. 

BJP MP and candidate from Vidhyadhar Nagar, Diya Kumari, is leading by a margin of 56,025 votes after the 17th round of counting, garnering a total of 1,30,231 votes so far. Upon being asked about CM face, Kumari said that it is to the central leadership to decide. 

“The credit for this win goes to PM Modi, Amit Shah ji, JP Nadda ji, state leaders and party workers. Modi ji's magic worked in Rajasthan and also MP & Chhattisgarh...We will ensure good governance and development in the state. Law and order will be seen in the state now. The top leadership of the party will decide on who will be the CM,” said Diya Kumari. 
 

BJP MP and candidate from Tijara, Baba Balak Nath leading by a margin of 4807 votes after the 12th round of counting, garnering a total of 64,579 votes so far.

BJP MP and candidate from Sawai Madhopur, Kirodi Lal Meena leading by a margin of 14,349 votes after the ninth round of counting, garnering a total of 35,892 votes so far. 

Rajasthan Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta on Sunday said that 12 to 17 rounds of counting of votes have been completed and the final result is expected to be declared by 1.30 pm.

As per the trends displayed on the website of the Election Commission of India, the BJP was leading on 112 seats in Rajasthan and the Congress on 71 out of the 199 seats that went to polls on November 25.

Former BJP state president Satish Poonia is leading from Amber, shows trends. BJP's Kirodi Lal Meena is leading in the Sawai Madhopur seat with a margin of 3,506 votes against his Congress rival Danish Abrar.

Results show people accepted PM Modi's promise of delivering on guarantees, said BJP's poll in-charge for Rajasthan Pralhad Joshi as the saffron party registered a lead in 109 out of 200 assembly seats. 

"People have totally endorsed the leadership and program of PM Modi and specially in northern part of India people have totally rejected the Congress party. Only in Telangana, they (Congress) can feel satisfied that's also because in southern states, except Karnataka, the presence of BJP is not there. We are not able to built the party as expected in southern states. As far as Telangana is concerned, we will perform much better in Lok Sabha elections," he added. 

Rajasthan: Congress observers BS Hooda, Mukul Wasnik and Shakil Khan arrive in Jaipur On result trends showing a clear majority for the BJP, Wasnik said, "These are early trends. Let the results come out."

Rajasthan assembly Speaker C P Joshi was trailing his BJP rival Vishvaraj Singh Mewar in Rajsamand district's Nathdwara seat, while state Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra was leading in Lacchmangarh as early trends for the assembly polls poured in on Sunday.

According to the Election Commission (EC) website, Joshi was trailing by 1,154 votes and Dotasra was leading with a margin of 1,618.

Rajasthan: The Bharatiya Janata Party has crossed the halfway mark in Rajasthan, as per the Election Commission of India's latest trends. There are 199 seats in the Rajasthan assembly, and the halfway mark is 100. The Congress has been in power in Rajasthan for the last term. 

Meanwhile, the beating of drums and dancing by BJP workers continued outside the party office in Jaipur as official EC trends show the party leading on 113 of the 199 seats so far.

BJP strikes the century mark in Rajasthan as it gets a great lead in the state, as per early trends. 

 

“BJP will win with a huge majority in Rajasthan. Jadugar ka jadoo khatam ho gaya hai. In MP, the BJP will form govt with a 2/3 majority. In Chhattisgarh, the party will form the government,” said Union Minister and BJP leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. 

"BJP will win 3-0 in this assembly elections. The party's 'vijay rath' will come to Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. In Telangana, if not this time, BJP will fly its flag high in the state the next time," said party leader Jaiveer Shergill. 

Former deputy CM Sachin Pilot is trailing from Tonk seat in Rajasthan while BJP's Ajit Singh Mehta has maintained a lead. Mehta's campaign was based on ‘localvsoutsider’ narrative. 

Former Rajasthan CM and BJP leader Vasundhara Raje is leading from Jhalrapatan constituency as counting is underway for Rajasthan assembly elections 2023. Raje is leading with over 10000 votes. 

BJP's Diya Kumari, a potential CM face, is leading from Vidyadhar nagar. In 2019, Diya Kumari was elected as an MP from Rajsamand.

Deedwana: Former CM Vasundhara Raje's close aide Yunus Khan is leading from Deedwana as he contested as an independent candidate from here after being denied ticket by the BJP. In 2018, BJP had fielded Khan from Tonk against Sachin Pilot. Khan suffered defeat from Pilot with a huge margin of 54,179 votes on the seat.

"The public has blessed BJP with complete majority. Misgovernance and injustice will lose; Good governance and justice will prevail." said Rajasthan BJP chief CP Joshi. 

Joshi claimed that the saffron party will win over 135 seats this time. 

Congress leader Pawan Khera sai, "The results will be better than our hopes and expectations. We are retaining power in both Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. We will reclaim power in Madhya Pradesh and claim power in Telangana."

Early trends are expected to be available in some time as the counting of votes has begun in Rajasthan. "The counting of votes has begun," said Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta. Postal ballots are being counted first which will be followed by the counting of votes polled through Electronic Voting Machines.

While 30 election districts have one counting centre, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Nagaur have two centres each. "All District Election Officers, Police Commissioners and Superintendents of Police have been instructed to strictly follow the security protocol at the counting centre," CEO Gupta said.

As many as 1,862 candidates are in the fray for 199 seats.

Counting of votes polled in Rajasthan will be done at 36 centres in the state on Sunday, December 3, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Praveen Gupta said, adding that preparations have been done regarding the same. 

Preparations, including security arrangements, have been completed for the counting process, which will begin at 8 am, the official said. The counting of ballot papers will be done first, followed by votes registered in electronic voting machines (EVMs), he said.

As counting will begin at 8am, Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra said that ṭhe voters have shown confident in the party. 

“The voters of Rajasthan have shown their full faith & support to Congress candidates because of the good governance of the party...The guarantee of Congress and the work done by the Congress government for 5 years, the public wants this government should be formed again. We will form a government with a full majority,” said Dotasra. 

1. Sardarpura - Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot is contesting the election from the Sardarpura constituency which has been a stronghold for Congress. He will be defending his seat against BJP's Mahendra Singh Rathore.

In 2018, Gehlot won the Sardarpura seat by securing 45,990 votes against the BJP's Shambhu Singh.

2. Jhalrapatan - Two time Rajasthan CM and BJP candidate Vasundhara Raje is contesting from Jhalrapatan, which she has represented since 2003. Raje was appointed the CM for the first time after she defeated Congress candidate and Sachin Pilot's mother Rama Pilot.

She again was appointed as the CM after the BJP won 163 seats out of 200 in 2013 and Raje won against Meenakshi Chandrawat by a margin of more than 60,000 votes. She also secured her constituency against Manvendra Singh despite BJP's loss in 2018.

Raje is being challenged by Congress party's Ramlal Chauhan in 2023.

3. Tonk - Sachin Pilot is the sitting MLA from Tonk and he is being challenged by the BJP's Ajit Singh Mehta. Pilot won the constituency by defeating BJP's Yoonus Khan by a margin over over 54, 179 votes. The constituency is said to have a considerably high population of Gujjars, Meenas and Muslims.

4. Jhotwara - BJP has fielded Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore from Jhotwara constituency which was won by Congress in 2018. The Olympian-turned-politican will be contesting against Congress party's Abhishek Choudhary.

In 2018, Jhotwara was won by Lal Chanda Kataria who defeated BJP's Rajpal Singh Shekhawat by a margin over 10,747 votes.

5. Nathdwara - Nathdwara is up for grabs between BJP candidate and the descendant of Maharana Pratap Singh, Vishwaraj Singh Mewar and Congress candidate CP Joshi.

Joshi is the current speaker of Rajasthan assembly and he defeated BJP's Mahesh Pratap Singh by a margin of 16,940 seats in 2018.

6. Churu - Churu has been a stronghold for the BJP as it has won four out of five assembly elections in 1998, 2003, 2013 and 2018.

For 2023, the BJP has fielded Harlal Saharan against Congress candidate Rafiz Mandelia. In 2018, Rajendra Rathore of the BJP won by a margin of 1,461 votes against Mandelia, who gave a tough competition to the BJP. 

BJP, riding high on the anti-incumbency wave, is likely to form the government in Rajasthan as per the Matrize exit poll prediction. The saffron party is expected to bag anywhere between 115 to 130 seats while the Congress is expected to get around 65-75 seats. At least 100 seats are required to form the government in Rajasthan.

In the last assembly elections held in 2018, Congress became the single largest party with 100 seats, short of majority by 1 seat in the 200-member assembly. However, in 2013, the BJP secured 163 seats under the leadership of former CM Vasundhara Raje Scindia while the Congress party could only manage to win 21 seats. 

While the incumbent Congress is hoping for another term in Rajasthan, opposition party BJP is eyeing a return in the state ahead of the Lok Sabha polls next year leveraging Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity. 

Rajasthan's electoral history shows a unique trend as no government has secured re-election since 1993. The state has alternated between the BJP and the Congress, with the Congress emerging victorious in 2018.

With no party securing re-election since 1993, the Congress aims to break the ‘riwaaz’. While the BJP based its campaign in the state on the development ushered by its government at the Centre and by targeting Chief Minister Gehlot on issues such as exam paper leaks and appeasement politics is aiming to gain power. 

Rajasthan has a total of 200 assembly seats but polling was held on 199 seats as election in Karanpur seat of Sriganganagar district was postponed following the death of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar. There are 5,25,38,105 voters in the 199 assembly constituencies.

Highest voter turnout was recorded in Jaisalmer’s Pokaran with 87.79%, closely followed by Alwar’s Tijara with 86.11%.
