Aamir Khan is gearing up for the filming of his next venture, Laal Singh Chaddha. The film will star Aamir Khan in the titular role and will see him reunite with Kareena Kapoor Khan, who will play his love interest. The Aamir Khan film will be directed by Advait Chandan, whose previous directorial was the 2017 Zaira Wasim-Aamir Khan-starrer, Secret Superstar. Laal Singh Chaddha is an official adaptation of the 1994 Tom Hanks film, Forrest Gump.

The relation between Laal Singh Chaddha and Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump was directed by Robert Zemeckis and starred Tom Hanks in the titular role. The film was the adaptation of the 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom. Forrest Gump depicts several decades in the life of the titular character, a slow-witted but kind-hearted man from Alabama who witnesses and unwittingly influences several defining historical events in the 20th century United States. Eric Roth adapted the screenplay for the film.

While Forrest Gump was described as an ode to the 20th century America, Laal Singh Chaddha will reportedly feature references to various events of modern Indian history and will be seen from the perspective of the titular character. Actor Atul Kulkarni has adapted the American film's screenplay. While the American film was distributed by Paramount Pictures, the Indian adaptation will be a co-production between Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios, of which Paramount Pictures is a division.

Forrest Gump was an enormous box-office success worldwide and the recipient of numerous accolades. Tom Hanks received his second Academy Award for Best Actor for this film and is one of the few actors to have won the coveted award back-to-back. The also won the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects, and Best Film Editing.
