Adithya Varma, Arjun Reddy, and how they differ from each other

Adithya Varma will release on November 8, 2019. The film will feature Dhruv Vikram and Banita Sandhu in lead roles. Read below to know more about every version.

Adithya Varma is the latest iteration of 2017’s Arjun Reddy. The 2017 film was originally written and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. It was Sandeep’s debut film which was a sensational hit in the Telugu film industry. The film was later remade in Hindi language with Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. The film was titled Kabir Singh which earned over 200 crores at the box office. Though all the three versions of the film are based on the same plot, the films reportedly differ in many aspects. With Adithya Varma’s release, The original story of Arjun Reddy will be portrayed in the third language. The original Arjun Reddy was made in Telugu language, Kabir Singh in Hindi and Adithya Varma in the Tamil language. Here’s how all three versions of the film differ from each other.

Arjun Reddy

Arjun Reddy was the first film by written and directed by Sandeep Vanga. While speaking to a news daily, the director had revealed that the original version of the film was over four and a half hours. The film was shot and edited at the extended runtime and later chopped down to three hours. The original cut featured many raw and gritty sequences which had to be removed for a theatrical release.

Kabir Singh

After the success of Arjun Reddy, the director of the film was reportedly offered to make the Hindi remake himself to do justice to the script. The film was a sensational hit but also sparked a lot of controversy after its release. Many people considered the film to be misogynistic and hateful. The film was a watered-down version of the original. Even though the film was lighter than the original one, the director still had to reportedly chop down two key scenes from the film due to censorship.

Adithya Varma

Adithya Varma is the latest iteration of the story. The film reportedly got done with its principal photography back in May 2019. The film will focus on the protagonist's anger issue in the film rather than just the romantic aspect of it. The film features Dhruv Vikram and Banita Sandhu in lead roles. The film will release on November 8, 2019.
