Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan turned 77 today. The Shahenshah of Bollywood is one of the most prominent figures in the history of Indian Cinema. He has won numerous awards including the Padma Vibhushan in 2015 for his contributions to the field of Arts. The actor has starred in a variety of film genres. 1.      Subir Kumar in Abhimaan

The actor brilliantly played the character of an insecure singer who starts to envy his wife for the fame she has achieved. It was a very different and unique character as most of the actors were playing a romantic and an action hero in the films back then (1973). He was hugely praised for his performance. The movie was much loved by the audience.

2.      Vijay Pal Singh in Kaala Patthar

Yash Chopra’s classic Kaala Patthar is still remembered by the audience. Amitabh Bachchan’s character in the film mostly portrayed emotions through facial expressions and had minimal dialogues. The character is considered as one of the most iconic roles portrayed by Big B on screen.

3.      Debraj Sahai in Black

The film was the first collaboration of Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He played the character of a stubborn teacher who educates a deaf and blind girl. The bond between the student and the teacher hit the right chords in the hearts of the audience. The actor received his second National award for Best Actor for his performance in the film.

4.     Subhash Nagre in Sarkar

Sarkar was the unofficial remake of The Godfather. Amitabh Bachchan's character in it was much loved by the audience for its dark shade. The actor was greeted very well by the critics for his performance.

5.      Vidyadar Patwardhan in Viruddh

The film was released in the year 2005 and was directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. The soundtrack of the film was used as the background rather than making the film a musical. Amitabh Bachchan played the character of an old man who fights to get justice for his dead son against the system. This was one of the most daring characters in his life.
