"Arbitrary 'hurt sentiments' and random bigotry": Swara Bhasker rages at Kedarnath ban in Uttarakhand

Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan starrer 'Kedarnath' has been at the heart of the storm for quite a while now. The film has been banned in over seven districts of Uttarakhand, and after the debacle, director Abhishek Kapoor took to Twitter and requested Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to let the film be screened in the state.

Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan starrer 'Kedarnath' has been at the heart of the storm for quite a while now. The film has drawn heavy flak from people as the makers are accused of allegedly promoting love jihad as the story revolves around a Hindu girl falling in love with a Muslim boy.

The film is essentially a love story, and many have called the film out as it hurts religious sentiments. 'Kedarnath' has been banned in over seven districts of Uttarakhand, and after the debacle, director Abhishek Kapoor took to Twitter and requested Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to let the film be screened in the state.

In response to the tweet, Swara Bhasker said " Sad and shameful that our filmmakers who pay such heavy taxes on the films they make are rendered vulnerable to all kinds of arbitrary 'hurt sentiments' and random bigotry.. sometimes by elected govt.s. Democracy? A free country? Anyone???

However, Bhasker's tweet calls out people claiming that the film allegedly promotes love jihad and hurts religious sentiments, and is not based on the families that have lost their loved ones in the natural disaster. 

'Kedarnath' hit the box office on December 7 and has been garnering quite a few praises for the young actress Sara Ali Khan. Till now, the film has seen a steady growth at the box office and has minted a total of 32 crores in the domestic market.

Meanwhile, another case has been filed on the local court of Uttar Pradesh against Sushant Singh and Sara Ali Khan starrer 'Kedarnath'. In the petition that has been filed before the court of additional chief judicial magistrate Dhananjay Mishra, the petitioner named Siddhartha Singh has named the main lead as Sushant Singh, Abhishek Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan.
