Bigil: Archana Kalpathi, AGS CEO turns creative producer with Bigil

Archana Kalpathi is the creative producer of the upcoming Tamil sports drama film Bigil starring Vijay and Nayanthara. The film is releasing under the banner of AGS Entertainment and is slated for an October 25 release. Archana Kalpathi is also the CEO of AGS Entertainment that was established in 2006 by her father and his brothers. AGS is a well-known production and distribution company who is a multiplex chain giant in Chennai as well.

Life of Archana Kalpathi: CEO AGS Entertainment 

AGS Entertainment started producing films since 2006 and ventured into constructing movie theatres in 2013. Currently, they have four theatres in Chennai. Archana was given her family's business mantle since she returned from NewYork after completing her masters. Born into a family of entrepreneurs, Archana was born into a joint family. Entering the family business at 23, she credits her family and her husband for the support that helped her maintain a work-life balance. Since turning CEO for AGS, this is the first time that Archana has turned a creative producer for the film, acting as a connecting link between the crew and the production house.

"Vijay is the most bankable star in Tamil industry": Archana Kalpathi

In an interview with a leading media portal, Archana Kalpathi said that Bigil is the biggest film produced by her father's production house and thus she couldn't spend ₹180 cr for any other star, except 'megastar Vijay'. In another news portal, Ms Archana also mentioned that 'Thalapathy' Vijay wanted her to be the creative producer for the movie since their first meeting.

Archana Kalpathi: Movies released under AGS entertainment

Bigil is directed by Atlee Kumar who received the Vijay award for best debut director in the Tamil film industry. He is known for his massive hit Raja Rani. Bigil marks his third film with Vijay. Under the AGS banner, films like Thiruttu Payale, Santosh Subramaniam, Irumbukkottai Murattu Singam, Madrasapattinam, Engeyuum Kaandhal were produced, all of which turned out to be very successful on the box office. Archana, the creative producer of Bigil also plans to release the movie in China since the Chinese market has welcomed Indian sports films like Dangal and Mom earlier with a positive response.
