Bigil movie shows cancelled from a popular theatre in Chennai?

The movie Bigil was released on October 24, 2019. It stars Vijay and Jackie Shroff. The movie's shows were reportedly cancelled in a popular theatre in Chennai.

In an unexpected report by a news portal, a popular theatre in Chennai cancelled the shows of Vijay's Tamil movie Bigil. This theatre in Chennai is Devi Paradise. According to reports, Devi Paradise theatre witnessed a relatively smaller crowd arriving to watch Bigil. The theatre policy claims that a film will be screened only if there are 30 or more people who will be present in one show. But, on the night of 31st, the audience turnout for the night show of Bigil was reported to be meagre.

The report claimed that as the turnout was less than 30, Devi Paradise theatre was forced to cancel the show. The report also talked about how the people who had come to watch Bigil were asked to go and watch the movie at another screen called Devi. Devi and Devi Paradise theatres announced that the film will be screened in the evening in both the theatres. They also announced the change in the night shows as the tickets bought at Devi Paradise were fewer in number.

Trade analysts on Twitter are posting praises and box office records of Bigil. According to the report, the movie crossed ₹ 200 crores worldwide in five days. Vijay and the director Atlee expressed their happiness about the film response. Here are tweets by critic Taran Adarsh:

But, the film has witnessed a decline in the collection, as the reports claim. Bigil movie is directed by Atlee. Alongside Vijay, the movie stars Nayanthara, Jackie Shroff, Yogi Babu, Amrirtha Aiyer, Varsha Bollamma, Reba Monica John, and Indhuja Ravichandran.
